High Rock Canyon and Black Rock Desert

Awesome views and great SUV type wheeling await you in the High Rock Canyon and Black Rock Desert of nothern Nevada, just outside the California border. I had a chance to tour these areas and would like to share the experience with you here. If you get the chance to visit this magical place, you should certainly go for it!

Cedarville Spa

We stayted at a spa (hot springs) resort just outside Cedarville, CA. Great accomnodations (and hot tubs).

The resort offers cabins (very nice), most with a private hot tub.

This country is where the famous Lassen Applegate trail got its name. Old (and current remnants of the trail can be enjoyed throughout the whole trail. Two of my trip companions, Rick Ponte (L), and brother Dale (R).

Gold Canyon got its name in High Rock Canyon from the yellow cliffs.

We were thoroughly delighted to see a most unusual sight of 15 Big Horn rams all clustered together.  I've never seen this many of them in one bunch.

High Rock Canyon has awesome valley views surrounded by rocky cliffs.

Here my crew photographed noted buckaroo and historian, Rick Ponte, a Lassen Applegate trail rider and desert explorer.

The Lassen Applegate trail can be enjoyed today in a capable SUV, with plenty of provisions as you spend quite a bit of time in the middle of nowhere.
