Tierra Del Sol 2004 Desert Safari
A Most Unique and Historical Trail Fix!

(TDS 2005 Note below)

John Hofstetter, International Harvester Scout guy, broke his Terra on the TDS run, March 2004. The spring shackle tore out of the frame. Then, in a true spirit of our sport, several folks, organizations and vendors jumped in to save the day. It was a cooperative effort -- one that makes our sport live on, and gives us the motivation to keep fighting for trails!

Roger Daniel, TDS, works the Hi Lift to get the Scout up where we could work on the spring shackle.

Roger Daniel hands *the rock* to John Stewart, United FWDA, TDS and CA4WDC.

The rock that saved the day, wedged in place and held by the winch cable hook.

Field expedient rock.

John *JT* Tuttle from BFGoodrich welds some scrap metal to the spring shackle, getting it ready for the fix.

JT puts the final touches on welding the spring shackle back in place. Thank you BFG for helping out!

Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari 2005 will be held March 4-6 at Truckhaven, Salton Sea, as always. I'll be there! Del
