Dennis Mayer Passes Away After Injury

Dennis Mayer passed away after an injury from a bad fall during the Volunteer Leader & Land Stewardship (VLLS) workshop of Nov. 2008.

It is with great sorrow to announce that at 2 am Tuesday (11/18/08) morning, our friend, mentor, and member of many groups and off-road organizations, Dennis Mayer passed away with his family and friends at hand.

We lack the words to even begin to express how loved Dennis was by those that knew him. He cared deeply for his beloved Rubicon Trail and worked tirelessly with the Friends of the Rubicon (FOTR) and the Rubicon Trail Foundation for many years to keep the trail in good shape and to keep our access to the trail. Dennis was a mentor, a friend and a hero to many of us.

His incredible smile matched his incredible personality and the love that he had for all the people around him. He was a true "good person", and he will be sorely missed.

I miss him terribly.
