BFGoodrich Announces Grant to Rubicon Trail

Feb. 1, 2007

In partnership with United Four Wheel Drive Associations and Tread Lightyly!, BFGoodrich has announced that the Rubicon Trail has been accepted into the Outstanding Trails Program and will receive a generous grant in 2007.

As a part of the program, BFGoodrich Tires would like to host an event at each Outstanding Trail, to highlight the uniqueness of each location as well as to partner with the conservation and the responsible use of the trail.  BFGoodrich Tires will also give a grant to FOTR/RTF to help with the costs associated with the trail’s conservation.

This is wonderful news, folks. The grant money (about $4000) will go to the Rubicon Trail Foundation which is funding FOTR directly on appropriate projects and efforts. Besdies that, BFG is going to give us a freebie raffle at our event this summer. You gotta make this one! Tim (see below) said they'll put on a pretty good for feed for us too. So plan to make this one.  I'll let you know the date (June, July or August) as soon as we firm things up.

Here's the note I got from the program administrator.

The Rubicon Trail has been selected as part of the 2007 Outstanding Trails program by BFGoodrich Tires.  I want to introduce myself. My name is Tim Gilman; I’m the manager of this program.  Along with United Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA) and Tread Lightly, BFGoodrich Tires created the Outstanding Trails program to highlight five of the best off-road trails in the country each year and to aid in the responsible use and preservation of these off-road trails.

The Rubicon Trail was selected from a very large field this year; you should be very proud.

In its inaugural year in 2006, the program was a huge success, and we look forward to this year’s campaign.  If you would like to check it out for yourself, go to http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/outstandingtrails.

Once again, Congratulations!

Tim Gilman
